Too busy for ME.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, for some reason I've been really depressed/ tired/ busy. I haven't been able to find the vitamins I can handle, so I think the lack of iron and calcium might play into it, and not getting in all my protein. I can see how someone actually could die of depression! I've been eating garbage because it's the only thing in the house I don't have to cook, and I'm just so depressed that I don't really care enough... I seem to be continuing to lose weight anyway, I haven't excercized in 4 days...Is anyone else a survivor of this? I don't miss food, I just have too much going on in my life and I'm just slipping. (job, kids, house, puppy training 2 beagles at the same time, and husband who sits on his can and lets me do it all.) I'm so balanced and stacked with things that need done, I guess I just don't have time for myself. I'm apparently not allowed to go to my support groups in Gainesville anymore because the gas prices are so high and we live in *******whatever. I'm miserable.

It's normal for depression to hit about this time after your surgery - it's hormone changes from the initial rapid weight loss. It should pass soon. However, if it doesn't, don't be afraid to talk with your doc about meds to get you over the hump. I was already on anti-depressants before surgery and am still on them. If you don't feel like cooking, try some frozen meals like Lean Cuisine, WW, or soups that you can just heat in the microwave. You can find lots of things easy to handle that don't require much preparation. Tell your hubby some things he can do to help. If you've done everything in the past, he probably isn't even thinking about it (they rarely do!!). Even if you can't go to your support group, we're here for you!! Hang in there!!! Ann in Duluth

Ann, great idea about the lean cuisine meals and stuff, I went to my doc (nurse practitioner as my doc has only actually seen me 2x, once to operate and once to release me from the hosp.) but it seems something IS wrong. I am anemic. and he recommended some other iron supplements which it turns out are GREAT! The Bariatric Advantage passion fruit flavor tastes just like sweet tarts! I can take those. Also, I'm going to have my potassium levels checked today. My mom has trouble with potassium so, it could be I'm predisposed. I'm probably fine. Anyway, I appreciate your caring response and I hope you are doing well yourself. I'll get a pic up soon! Gretchen
