I too am doing alot of research still. (I'm so glad I found these little emoticans!) Although everything I've found on the web has been good! I have heard lots of people say that his staff is overworked though. I'm sure they have mounds of paperwork and lots of patients to take care of. Maybe he needs to hire more help?? And CONGRATULATION! Wow, 30 pounds in 6 weeks! Do you know how many weeks it would've taken me to lose 30 pounds at Weigh****chers?? That's right...about 5 months if I'm lucky! Cathy

I considered using Dr. Duncan but changed surgeons after I couldn't get anyone from his office to return my calls or respond to me in any way. Based on my research, I believe that he is a great surgeon. I also believe that your health and commitment to this surgery and new way of life are equally important. No surgeon can make you follow the diet and take care of yourself before or after surgery. You also have a great responsibility for the best possible outcome of this surgery! Best of luck! I used Emory Bariatrics - Dr. Edward Lin. Loved him!

I don't think I've heard of Dr. Lin yet. I'm pretty new at this type of surgery and have just started in August to even consider it. I have heard Dr. Duncan's office is really hectic. You're right, it's a mind set thing no matter which dr you choose. Thanks for taking the time to reply, and I wish you the best in your new skinny life!

Hi Cathy Dr. Duncan did my surgery on June 17th of this year. I am down 54 pounds now and have had no complications. I am one of the people who thinks he is WONDERFUL!!! That being said, I have to agree that his staff has days that they definitely seem a little overwhelmed and you have to work hard to make sure they KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!! I can personally say, there are several people there who know me. But that's because I bugged the tar out of them from day one. I have a wonderful angel in my life names Hazel, who has told me at least a thousand times that "WE HAVE TO BE OUR OWN BEST ADVOCATES!" In other words, no matter who your doctor is put your foot down, demand that they do what you know to be best for you. While I was in the hospital, I was SO SICK, finally I had to make the nurse tell me what they were giving me for pain and I had to tell them what I no longer wanted to take. That's what I mean, you can't let ANY doctor make all your decisions for you. If something happens that you don't agree with or that you are uncomfortable with take it up the chain until you can't go any further and keep harping until it is resolved to your satisfaction. That being said, I would definitely go with Dr. Duncan again, but what I will say to you is pray, meditate, or think really hard (whichever fits with your beliefs). Listen to that little voice in you and don't do anything that you are not at peace with, because this is a BIG decision. Good luck!!! Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or anything else. Take Care Valarie

Gosh, 54 pounds! Congratulations! What you said is so true. No one knows your body like you do. And I'm definitely not one to be quiet if I've got a problem. I do pray about this all the time, and ask for God's Will to be done in this decision. That is the only way to be at peace with this. Thank you for taking the time to care enough to reply. God Bless

Dr Duncan himself is an excellent surgeon. His office staff leaves a LOT to be desired. I changed to a different surgeon because his office manager TRIED to force me to pay $1500 out of pocket even though they accepted assignment with my primary and my secondary insurers. This is against contract. I pointed it out and was told to go elsewhere as they had plenty of patients who would gladly pay it without question. As I said--Dr Duncan is a great surgeon as are his partners. If you do not have a problem with his office staff you are in wonderful hands.

Hi Gwen, You're not the first to say his staff is...well overworked??? I think he would do himself a favor to hire extra office help. I do hope to have Dr. Duncan as my surgeon when I get things worked out. By the way, you really look great! I looked at your pictures too. Amazing! Cathy C.
