Dr. Titus Duncan...Anyone???
Could anyone tell me anything about Dr. Duncan in Atlanta? I attended his seminar a couple of weeks ago, but would like to hear it from someone that has had first hand experience with him.
I'm looking into RNY, but haven't decided on the surgeon. I've heard alot of good things, but also, other things.
Any information will be appreciated!
Cathy

You won't hear much negative on the boards, but you can find his patient reviews here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Titus+Duncan+dsd.html and you could email members from thier profiles for their long-term feelings on him.
Hugs & good luck!
Only my personal opinion here, but I am so glad I had him and his wonderful staff on my side. His associate did the actual surgery, but he came around to see me, and his staff, whew!!, talk about there anytime you need them. I beleive you would be very happy with them, but he does have rules with gaining weight after your initial weigh in, and does make you see a nutrisionist and phsc evaluation, which everyone should get anyway with this huge step. Please, email me with any questions you may have.

Hi Cathy, Dr. Duncan is my Dr. and I am having Surgery in 9 days with him, I really like him, he is very informative and really cares about his patients. I have several friends that have had surgery by him and love his work. I to in the beginning her other things, but let me tell you this he is the 2nd best in the country, the 1st being in california. I went to my complications class on Sept 29th and he spoke and all I've got to say is that listening to him and others confirms that I have made the right choice. Best of luck on your journey and if you decide to use him, it will be a decision you won't regret.
Hugs,
Melissa
Thanks so much for all the encouaging words! I feel like he's one of the best. His office has done over 1200 Lap RNY, so that should be quite a bit of experience.
Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I know you're so excited and nervous! But I really believe your in good hands.
Keep me informed.

Cathy,
Dr. Duncan was my surgeon and I had no complications, my incisions were very small and healed quickly. I did a great deal of research (a year's worth) before having this surgery and being comfortable that you have put your life in the hands of a Dr. with a proven record means a lot! My internist actually referred me to Dr. D and based on her recommendation alone says a great deal! She is VERY selective. Dr. D also impressed me with his over all concern for how unhealthy FAT is, he does not concentrate on the pounds but on the fat! He is so concerned with the epedemic of obesity he has started a special foundation to try to keep our children from this epedemic! (this would put him out of business, kinda funny, I know - WLS is not the only surgery he performs so rest assured he will not be out of work). I just see in his eyes and hear in his voice a true concern for the health of the obese.
I only have one complaint regarding Dr. D and that is of his staff, they are really very sweet and sincere but I had to stay on top of them (especally the insurance coordinator who compiles your file and submits to your ins for approval) regarding my paperwork, ins approval surgery dates etc. Just be sure to call and keep the ball rolling yourself. hey are slow to return phone calls so when you have your prop appts be sure to bring your list of questions so you can get your answers then.
Good luck to you on who ever you choose. I am very happy I have has the surgery and at 6 weeks have lost 30 pounds!
