Hi ya'll! I am about 3 weeks post op. Up until yesterday, I haven't been able to eat much. When I did, i always had to lay down for a few minutes. Now today, i feel like a bottomless pit! I have eaten half a pack (about 3 or 4 oz) of oatmeal, a small banana, 3 oz of cheese. I have been able to drink crystal lite sunrise. I am getting alot better on that. But I seem to be so hungry today. I know what I have eaten hasnt been much, but it seems like alot to me. Is this normal?

hello I had surgery on the 9th, and I don't really get hungry until my family cooks and I smell the food. Now i was very scared to eat, however i've been eating a little but i get full after a spoon or two. my meals has consisted of mash pota. apiece very very small bake fish or chicken. Soft scramble egg or 2oz.sugar free oatmeal. If I get hungry in between I grab a popsicle, I just hope we're doing right...

I think we are doing fine. It was just my 1st day of actually being hungry and wanting more to eat. What I ate doesnt sound like much, but its ALOT when your new tummy is only 1 to 2 oz big! LOL

Hey, KimB! Sorry I haven't been around much, but I saw your post and had to respons...it sounds like that 1st day you ate an aweful lot of carbs! You know, that will definitely make you hungry! Did you discuss with a dietician how many grams of protein you're supposed to be taking in every day? I'm supposed to be getting in at least 75. It's a lot, so don't waste that appetite on carbs! (it sounds like you're doing great though) Hugs, Gretchen

Hey girl! No, everything I eat is carb controlled. Everytime I try something, i check the sugars, sodium, calories and carbs. Things just do not taste the same anymore. But i have lost almost 30 pounds in 3 weeks so I must be doing something right! LOL Hugs!

Kim, I know I felt like that in the beginning too. IT tooks a good 4-6 weeks for me to feel full or satisfied. I've read several times on the main board that it can be attributed to the nerve endings in the pouch- that it takes a few weeks for them to heal and kick in to allow you to feel satisfied. Hang in there! Hugs, Tonya

Hey Tonya! I have heard of that too. i went back to my book to see if I missed anything. It says that I am suppose to be getting in 6 to 8 cups of food/liquid a day to stay hydrated. That sounds like an awful lot right now. If I did that, I would be drinking and eating all day long. before it was all over yesterday I had about 3 cups in. I felt like a PIG, lol. I guess I am about done with the healing part? I have no idea. i have an appointment next week with the Dr. Hopefully I will find out exactly then. Take care!

Kimberly, I know how you feel. I think we all have days like that from time to time. Somedays I pig out, well, as much as we can pig out, and other days I have to remind myself to eat. As long as you continue to lose in pounds and/or inches I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like you are doing just great!

Thank you ma'am! I just get freaked out about stretching the pouch. I didn't go all through this so I can gain the weight back you know? LOL
