Back Pain
I am 11 days post op and my back aches! Otherwise, I feel like a million bucks! I've not had any fever, no nausea, no problems going to the bathroom, I can tolerate every food I've tried, am drinking the right amount of fluids, etc. Any suggestions on how to ease the pain? It just feels like I've had bad posture for about a million years. The only comfort I get is when I sleep in the bed with my legs elevated or put the heating pad on it. I'm a little worried about the heating pad, but honestly, it is the only way I can get relief during the day. It feels better when I walk, but then it hurts again. Then, it feels better when I sit down, but then it hurts again. This may drive me wacko!! Any suggestions??
Hi,I'm 10 days post-op,had my surgery on the 2.My surgean told me that after surgery my back could hurt dew to gas, whether thats you or not,i'm not sure.I do know you can still have gas even though you go to the bathroom regurily.what kind of foods are you trying right now?so far i've just had yogurt, one egg, some pototeo soup blendid and some thin grits water and protein.
Hi Shelley. I started with soups - mushroom and cream of chicken. I've tried cottage cheese, baby food fruits - pears and peaches, applesauce, and pureed green beans, squash, cabbage, sweet potato, chicken, ham and soft scrambled eggs. I've had grits and oatmeal. So far, so good. I'm cooking a roast today in the crockpot. I've been logging my meals into fitday.com and noticed that my iron intake is low, so I'm going to try some red meat. I've also had sf/ff chocolate fudge pudding and sf popsicles as snacks. I've found that fruit just isn't good when it is diluted with water. I do drink some V8 fruit juice but have found that I like the V8 vegetable juice much better.
Did you do a lot of walking right after surgery? I know that the gas they pump into you during surgery can move around, up under the shoulder blades and other places. This gas isn't in the intestines, so I'm really not sure how it is excreted. I just know that when I had my tubal ligation I thought I'd never get rid of the gas pains. Congratulations on doing so well in everything else. Sounds like you are off to a good start, and I'm betting that the back pain will soon be a thing of the past.
