My first consult with Dr. Duncan's office is completed! :)
Well my day FINALLY came to get my first consult and ya know it went quite well. Dr. Field's is awesome and so was Loleta. I went down last night and stayed in a hotel (whimp i know but hey it beats fighting traffic and the alarm clock to death for waking me up at 4 am ). Had several other ladies who were with me we did our life story of paperwork again, met with Dr. Field's as a group then seperately. After that i went and got the veins drained and went for the insurance consult.
Bottom line I have to loose 15lbs before surgery. I can use the cream for inflamation on my hands i wrote about in another post. I need the pshych eval, nutritional consult, letter of recomendation, exray, ekg, and since i smoked for 10 yrs need a pulmonary function test done. Other than that i am good to go. And finally attend one support group meeting. So not to bad if you ask me. Now to get all this stuff done and get it to Tracy. Since i use medicare i will go straight from doing this stuff to a pre op appt and they will set my date then so maybe it will not be to long from now.
Just thought i would let yall know i am FINALLY ON MY WAY
to the other side.

Hi Sandy, I'm just curious.....can you explain why the requirment that you lose 15 pounds? I took a peek at your profile and your weight was listed at 289. Like I said, I'm just curious. My opinion, if we could lose weight, and keep it off, we wouldn't need wls

01-29-02 surgery to see if I had another leak, NO thank goodness
SEVERE COMPLICATIONS!!

30 days in a rehab hospital, had to learn to walk again
Now, one happy girl...........LUCKY to be alive

Debbie the reason for losing a few pounds before surgery is to help shrink your liver. They told me the heavier you are the bigger the liver and they have to lift the liver to get to the stomach, so it helps to lose the weight to shrink it so that the liver will be easier to lift. I myself have to lose 10 pounds. Hope this helps.
Melissa
First off thanks for all your responses.......
Debbie all i can say is OMG girl you did go through it all didn't you. Read your profile and admitting here got a tad freaked afterwards. But just gotta keep telling myself the lord will watch over me. Melissa is right they require it to shrink the liver and to see if your committed to loosing weight. No big deal eating enough rabbit food that it will come off quickly i am sure.
Melissa yep so glad to be working on stuff now but ya know it seems a tad overwhelming now. All this stuff to do and finding dr's that will work with my insurance sooooo may gain a few gray hairs from this but will be well worth it. As for beating you to the OR nahhhhhh don't see it happening. If we are lucky we will be there at the same time and drive the nursing staff nuts (just kidding now)
Tonya thanks for the kind words. Nope stayed in Druid Hills at a hotel there was only a 10 minute drive and had plenty of time to circle the building since the parking ramp thing is so weird there. But will probably stay at the Manley House for the Pre op stuff as well.
Well i am off to eat breakfast gotta love veggie loaded omlets. yall have a great day.
