Second Time Around!!!

Some of you may recall that back in March, 2 days before surgery, I found out that my insurance wasn't going to cover my surgery. I was devastated, and even more upset at everyone around me saying they were glad it was cancelled, it was a "sign from God", etc. I immediately joined a gym, and am still working out. I finally found an insurance company that is covering me with no "pre-existing" clause and went to see Dr. Scarborough on Monday. Although I have to get my clearance letters all over again (they're only good for six months), I'm so happy that I don't even mind. Dr. Scarborough was very pleased that I'd lost a little weight, and a lot of inches, and urged me to go for it. This time I've told no one but this board that I'm working toward wls, and don't plan to mention it to anyone else until near my date. I was so discouraged, at first, but got up off the floor and went to work. Returning to this board is what gave me the will to try, again. Barb in S. GA

Hi Barb! Sorry to hear about all your troubles but where there is a will; there's a way. Glad you did not let the insurance company & others stop you going on this new journey. There are risk; however, there are risk every day in our lives so why worry about the ifs, buts, maybes, could haves, & would haves. As for support, you have it from this WLS Member, if you ever need to talk, just email me at [email protected]. Hang in there, keep in touch and believe that you don't know if you don't try and you did try again and its working for you. Just think it won't be long before you're on the other side. Take care, in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks, Karen, for your kind thoughts and prayers. Would you believe, I've been struggling with insomnia for three months, sometimes going two days with no sleep. Immediately after my appointment with my surgeon, I have been sleeping like a baby! The mind is a strange thing, isn't it? I feel great, already! Barb in S. GA

Ann, it makes me feel good just to see your smiling face! I was stupid not to immediately come back to the board, but I was so crushed that I couldn't stand reading the success of others, and was too proud to show my own despair. What a selfish person I am! I feel so much better, already, just knowing the support that's here for me, and hopefully, I'll be able to support someone else down the way. Thanks, again, Barb in S. GA

Yeah Barb! I'm thrilled that you finally found the right insurance company. You'll love Dr. Scarborough. I've been so very pleased with him - very good staff, very helpful, and he was there with me every step of the way and for every question afterwards. Good luck getting all your clearance letters again. (I'm sure you'll get them, just hope you can do it quickly to avoid further delays.) And congratulations to you on all that working out. It will be good for you as you head into surgery. Blessings, Cheryl

Thanks, Cheryl, you look and sound great! Does Dr. Scarborough still have a support group? I don't know that I could make it very often, but I met some of the gals last August and they seemed a friendly bunch. Looks like I'll have all my appointments covered by early August, but Dr. Scarborough will be out of the country 8/11 - 8/23, so we'll see how things go. It feels so good to be reading the board, again. I could kick myself for staying away so long! Barb in S. GA (bouncing for joy)
