Okeee dokeee... here's my deal so far... I am taking the pain meds every 4 hours, and the pain is not really an issue at all... I am taking it because of the fever I keep running... it goes away when I take the medicine, and a couple hours later is back... around 100.4 to 100.8... then more medicine, and it's goes away again. I am walking much better now... all the way around the block, about 1/3 mile, and up and down hills... makes me sweat a little, which lowers the temp so it makes me feel better! .... the dog is looking at me like "hey man, what's all this walking crap??" When I nap for any length of time, I have to go to the little sailors room and have a fart-a-thon... then I am OK from there... just lots and lots of rumbling.... I have had about 14 ounces of protein shake today... in 2 servings... and about 6 ounces of chicken broth which tasted like it came directly from heaven... had to force my self to drink that slow... I have had about 10 ounces of crystal lite all day... so I guess I am not getting enough fluids... The shower I had today was wonderful.... they told me not to shower until noon... and at 12:00 and 1 second I was nekkid and wet!!... ahhh... this kid sure likes being clean!! I chewed up a Flintstone vitamin... I am doing the breathing thing... about every 2 hours... So much to remember... which is why I was disappointed in the "nuts" lousy instructions.... So ... how am I doing?.... what do I need to do differently? All suggestions eagerly awaited....

Marc, Sounds like you are doing everything fine. I would suggest that you try and increase the fluids, hard I know ; however the temp could be a result of dehydrartion. If you start running a temp over 101 please call your M.D. I am trying to be your WLS buddy and putting my nursing degree aside After all of your remarks about nurses and all Hang in there... but promise you will call the doc if the temp continues . Cheers, Janet

OK you crazy nut.... what a hoot you are!!!! You are doing fine... I would suggest you get some liquid tylenol to take for the fever if you don't need the pain meds, save those for when you do need them. As for the liquid intake, you are just about normal. NOONE can get in all their fluids when they first come home from the hospital. Keep sipping away all day so that you don't become dehydrated from running the fever. And like it was mentioned above, call Dr. Hart if your temp reaches 101. And if you need me for ANYTHING, please call me. Susan

Marc, You are doing better than I did. So keep up the GREAT work. Isn't it amazing how chicken broth tastes like manna!!! Just wait until you can eat egg drop soup or wonton. Oh I was so in love..... lol As for the temp, I would take tylenol not the pain med. If you need me to get you the liquid, let me know and I can run it over to ya. Just need to know the flavor of choice, grape, orange, bubble gum and I think berry. You are doing wonderfully well.... Lynn

Marc, You are doing great!! I'd be a bit worried about the fever and would be calling my doc tomorrow. They get paid lotsssss of money so a call on a sunday morning is included  One sign for me if I'm not getting in my fluids is my lips start getting peely (uhg, now thats something to picture). Try the sugar free popsicles, I just let them melt in my mouth and some sf jello. All that counts as liquids at this stage in the game. Its still hard for me to just sip on h2o. Lots of buddies a hollar away so don't hesitate to ask. You really are doing terrific... way to go!!! B

Hi Mark, I agree with Janet above the fever could be due to dehydration and I know Dr. Hart's patients he tells if the fever creaps above 101 then call him immediately. Usually after surgery, day five or sick you run a small low grade fever as a result of the surgery and anesthesia, I was told. Like Kia said, buy some liquid tylenol and rest and concentrate on getting in the fluids. You will do good. I would tell ya welcome in being a "Hart's Hottie" , but, your a man Welcome to the loosing side! Crece
