Hi folks , hope everyone is doing fine . I have a question .I went to my primary care physician today and he was floored at my progress (very happy )anyway i went for several things but one was that i wanted him to document that even now after 171 pounds so far that skin sag is an issue and even though i have a ways to go before i would consider skin removal surgery . I just wanted him to document my progress and problems we have with excess skin .so that in the future there would be a chance that insurance would pay. My question he and i both want to know is what would be the corect title for name sake of weight loss excesss skin removal , and the need to . Thanks in advance Travis

The correct name for this procedure is panniculectomy. Later when you file with your insurance be sure it the surgeon files it by a proper name, not tummy-tuck, and says it is for reconstructive surgery, NOT plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is considered cosmetic and most insurance companies will not pay for anything cosmetic. Be sure you get you PCP to document any and all rashes or infections. Pictures should also be taken. The big thing to remember is DOCUMENTATION. Wife of WLS post-op patient Debbie M
