state health benefit plans

has anyone been approved with state health bebnifit plans;cigna,uninted healthcare of ga ,or blue choice.if anyone can explain the differences,i would love to listen. i have a book with basic guide lines. if it's shbp what is the cigna uninted and bluchoice for!underwritters maybe.what name do i use when asking co.about obesiety coverage?i'm so confused. please help!

Hi Vicki I have Cigna HMO through state health benifit plan. The carriers are ones that have been chosen and approved by the state to insure those employed by the state. I drive a school bus in North Fulton and we are now in open enrollment and I too have to decide which carrier to go through. I believe you need to call the actual company and ask if they cover the surgery and be sure to ask what the guidelines are as you don't want any surprises. Also ask if there are any exclusions for the surgery. I hope this helps. Tina N

BCBS HMO will exclude the surgery specifically beginning July 1. I am rushing to get approved before then! Good luck! Susan
