What I've learned....

In just 2 days! 1. Pain meds are life savers. Don't skip them just because you feel fine right this moment. The moments coming might not be so kind! 2. Cold isn't good. (to me, personally) Room temp goes down better and my new tummy doesn't balk about it. After all--it's like a baby's tummy-and we wouldn't give a baby ice cold drinks! (my nurses wisdom) 3. Hydration is a full time job. 4. You WILL gain weight from IV fluid. 5. Walking does indeed help gas move. Warn those who are willing to go with you. 6. New tummies make odd noises. (which is why I'm awake at 12am) 7. Tummy sleepers, beware!! There are not enough pillows in the universe to make tummy sleeping possible...I know, I've tried. Take your pain meds and just doze. 8. 3 spoonfuls of Cream of Chicken soup will taste like the best thing you've ever eaten once you can have it. 9. Even ONE spoonful of that nasty liquid they make you drink for the leak test is toooooo much. The two ounces I had to drink should have won me (and everyone else who does it) a gold medal. 10. WLS is do-able....even for whimps like me. Hugs.. Michelle

Well it sure is good to see that they didn't take your personality out while they were in there! It is so good to hear from you Michelle. Have you ever thought of being a writer? I just love to read your posts. I guess this WLS thingy is do-able for me too. Guess I'm on my way, 29 days! I hope and pray that you will continue to do well and heal quickly. Please keep posting when you feel up to it. Gentle get well soon hugs, Barb

Great Post Michelle, I loved them all, but untill you... I was the only one that the cold bothered right out of surgery... My nurse said she hadnt had anyone tell her that the cold made their new stomach cramp... I COULD NOT do the ice chips and they didnt want me to let it melt and drink the water..... I did get through and now I can do cold.. Keep up the great posts.... and GOOD LUCK to you........ Kiwani
