Hello Everyone! Does any body out there know how much the out of pocket expense is for WLS thru Aetna. I will have my consult on May 4th and would like to be prepared when I am given a surgery date. I need to know how much to save up! Thanks, Donna

I think the key is to find out from your insurance company what kind of policy your company purchased. The frustrating thing with insurance is that several people may have the same insurance company like Aetna, but everyone pays a different amount, because of their company. I used to have Aetna, and we have an exclusion (I work at a hospital...of all places to have an exclusion), anyway, we were told they wouldn't cover it at all for us. It would be best to just call Aetna and ask them. Good luck to you!

That message that Derrick wrote, I really wrote it. I hate when I forget to log him out!

Wow I was just thinking Derrick is such a smart guy. Yes Stephanie is correct. I would check with Aetna to see what your policy actually covers, but I have Aetna and any other questions just let me know I will try my best to help. Shon

I have Aetna open choice POS and I only had to pay the Hospital co-pay of $100.00 per day but I am sure it depends on what plan you have with them. You also need to make sure your company doesn't have an exclusion for WLS. Once you find that out then you need to go to Aetna.com and look up their bulletin #0157 because that's where they list their requirements for approval. Best of luck to you! ~Bonnie
