Update on Derrick

Hello, everyone. First I want to say that I made some replies this morning logged in as my husband, Derrick....oops. So, if you see a reply to your post by Derrick Polen, it is me, Stephanie. Sorry. Anyway, Derrick had his surgery on Wednesday, 3/23, and he is doing great! Surgery was at 9am on Wednesday, and we were back home by 11:30 on Thursday! He was up and walking laps early Wednesday afternoon. He kept everything down and had no complaints other than pressure. We are going to try some pudding, watered down grits, that sort of thing tomorrow morning. He has taken some medication (pills) with no problem. He is pretty tired, but other than that, he is doing really well. He is getting in about 32-40 ounces of fluids a day...he drinks water and propel all day long. I think all he ate yesterday was a cup of jello and a popsicle. I'm so proud of him. He weighed, and said it looks like he has already lost 3 pounds. He goes back for his 2 week appointment on April 6th. We'll know more then about how much he has truly lost. I'm so excited for him. I am turning in the rest of my paperwork Monday. So, hopefully I'll be joining him soon. I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of my hubby.
