united health care choice

hi everyone just wanted to see if anyone has had any luck with the st of ga united health care choice. i have got nothing but the run around from them. i have sent med. rec. and they still tell me that its not covered with our plan. even with high blood pressure ,sleep ap. high blood sugar . ... i have e mailed all the people from my area that will have a vote on hb 43 , i just hope that they are reading them ...please if you know anything that will help me i am all ears . thanks aimee

Aimee, Hi there how are you? First do you work for a local school system? Well I do and I initially had state merit PPO. Well they told me in no how no way would they pay. Well then I changed to cigna HMO under state health and they said they would pay. Well needless to say they denied me in february saying it is not medically covered. Well after much runaround state merit says the policy specifically states we won't pay for WLS. Well in the summary of benefits it does say that the state merit PPO, PPO choice, and Indemnity plans will not pay for WLS but for the HMOs says to see the benefit decision guide. Well it nowhere says they won't pay. My thing is my policy runs from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005 and they are trying to change my policy in the middle of the year which they can't do. I am now under legal counsel and am appealing. This is so nervewracking I know but just hang in there. They paid for everything beforehand leading to the surgery approval and then they denied that saying they are not covering in 2005. My current policy does not end until june 2005 and I know of people under state merit that were covered in December 2004. Hang in there girl. We are with you. Keep us posted.
