Hey Joyce, The feeling hungry after "eating" at this stage is quite normal. Liquids or soft pureed foods move quickly through the pouch. I did not experience a full fulling until I got into the 3rd stage and began eating grilled chicken and tuna. I never had a change in taste. Marie post op, lap rny 12/02/03

Joyce, I felt hungry immediately post-op also. It took a good 3-4 weeks for the nerve endings to heal before I feel satisfied or full on 3-4ozs. You are doing right by measuring your food. I also had no problems with eating or drinking....until I tried a piece of fried food 3 weeks out. I got ****y b/c I felt so good. My pouchy put me right back in place. Keep doing what your doing! Hugs, Tonya

Hey Tonya, Thanks for sharing your experiences. Big thank you for the heads up about the fried foods......I can see that it could be easy to get ****y after feeling so good. Girl I'd rather take your advice than get my pouch angry.....lol. Love Joyce

Hi Joyce... No you're not nuts! I had trouble eating slowly enough at first as well. I ended up using a kitchen timer, so I would wait at least one full minute between bites. If you're not doing it already, you might try using a baby spoon just to be sure you're taking small enough bites. If you do slow down your meal, your brain will have a better chance of getting the message that your stomach is full, since that takes several minutes to happen. Every surgeon's program is slightly different, so don't be afraid to call your surgeon's office with your questions! Best of success to you... Cheryl

Hi Joyce. I was having a hard time eating slow so now I try to do something while I eat. I either read a magazine, do crosswords or play a hand held game so that I have something to do while between bites. It helps me a great deal. ~Bonnie
