Questions for Doctor
My first appointment with a surgeon is on Tuesday and I've created a notebook with questions for him. Can anybody help me think of somethings to ask him? I don't want to walk away saying, "oh, I should've asked him this..."
As always, I truly appreciate your input, your support and the kinship we share.
Love,
Barb

Here's a few: Who will be performing the surgery? How many WLS operations has he/she done? if it;s a team, how many has each surgeon performed? What percentage of leaks does he/she have? Are there any pending litigations against the practice? How many? How long does the approval process take on average?
I personally would not want a surgeon who has performed less than 200 surgeries.
Hugs,
Becky
Hi Barb, I know I have said this before, but let me say it again, because it is SO important.
If, there is a complication, WHO will be taking care of you? Will you be abandoned to the care of ER/ICU doc's, whom you have never met, or will "your" surgeon be in charge of your care???
I do not want what happened to me, to EVER happen to another person. "My" surgeon did not take the time to visit me during my ICU stay, nor did that surgeon talk with my very concerned family during their 45 days and nights they spent in the waiting area of the same ICU.
I'm so glad to see that you are spending a lot of time gathering information prior to selecting your surgeon. Many poeple forget the importance of selecting a caring doctor.
