Help!! Protein Supplements!
Hey guys.. I'm 5 days post op and need some help. The powder I'm using is pretty bad no matter how much I dress it up My doctor's office said my protein supplement needs to have at least 20g of protein and less than 6g of carbs per serving. I have to have this 3 times a day in 4-6 oz servings (no more). Please let me know what you all used or are using. I'm on the supplements for 4 more weeks! I need something my taste buds can handle.. not just my stomach. Brands (where to find it), mixtures (juice, milk, etc), recipes would be very appreciated!
Thanks!
Kristi
Hi Kristi - I've been using the IDS Multi-Pro Vanilla Cinnamon, and I love it. It's actually not bad just mixed with 4 oz. of water, but I also put some in any oatmeal, pudding or yogurt I have as well to 'beef it up' a bit. It's the best of all the ones I've sampled, but of course everybody has different tastes. You can get a sample of it from VitaLady.com for $2.00. The cheapest place I've found to buy it, though, is supplementgiant.com. (And they're quicker on the shipping as well.)
Good luck!

Right after my WLS, I found out (hard) that I was very allergic to concentrated whey protein. I had to find a soy based protein. I have been using the GNC Protein 95 for 2 years now and love it. The chocolate is the best. I usually mix 2 scoops with 12 - 14 oz. of water, twice a day to intake a total of 100 grams of protein. You would probably want to half this.
Good Luck!

Hi Kristi. I went to GNC yesterday and found a premixed drink called Isopur. It is 0 carbs and has 40 grams of protein per 20 oz bottle. I tried the Grape, Orange and Passioin Fruit. I liked the Grape and Passioin Fruit. The taste is like watered down kool aide so it isn't bad. I couldn't drink the power stuff. You may want to give it a try. Good luck!

I love the Zero Carb Isopure Protein drinks. You can get them at GNC, but I have seen them in other places. I love the Grape, Orange and the Orange Pineapple Banana. There are several flavors, you just have to try them to find out which you like. Zero Carbs, 20 ounces (counts towards your liquid intake), and 40 grams of protein. I drink it throughout the day - remember, you can only absorb up to 30 grams of protein at one time.
Good Luck,
Patti
It seeems like a lot of people are posting for the same reason reason today, so I'll just copy and paste:
I hate the texture (thickness) of most protein drinks. This is what I do:
Champion Nutrition Whey Protein Stack (available online at several sites)
I use :
2 cups cold water
1 1/2 scoops of protein powder
2 tablespoons sugar free syrup (I find them cheap at TJ Maxx or Marshalls)
2 tablespoons of Benefiber ('cause I don't eat enough fruit or veggies to keep things moving on their own)
Blend in the blender, and pour over ice. It has the consistency of ice coffee. I like the Chocolate Protein with Kahlua flavored syrup the best.
