I need to know if anyone else has had 2 insurance policies and the primary refuses to pay for the surgery... ( written exclusion) I need to know if the secondary will come in and pick it up since it will cover the surgery if medically necessary..... I need to know what to expect....Would appreciate any insight to this matter....... Thanks Patrice

D'Lynn, Long Long Long day..... the appt went fine......there were only 3 of us in the group today so he spent a good bit of time with us..... Couldn't help but laugh at him when he came to examine me...........as he was listening to my stomach his started to growl....... he looked at me and asked was that my stomach or yours....... I couldn't help but laugh when he realized it was his... He made me feel right at ease...... Amazing how you can have all these questions and you can't think of a thing to ask but once you get in the road you remember all that and more...... I wonder if there is a time that you can call back and ask all these questions.......LOL....... I go in the 21st and the 22nd for all my pre-op testing..... Going to try to get a psychological evaluation scheduled for around that time if at all possible..... Since I am now going to have to deal with 2 insurances (1 which isn't going to pay a penny) I have to get on the ball..... almost wish I didn't even have a policy where I work at.... It isn't worth a toot to begin with.... So much for the whining.. Have to remain positive... Just know with this stumbling block that I will have a longer wait since they won't do anything till my primary ins. denies it....... oh well life goes on... and I intend on getting all my ducks in a row before they send it to BCBS..Keep your fingers crossed for me..... Now my journey has officially began.......

I am glad to hear all went fine today with you. Isnt Dr Hart sweet? Sorry to hear about your insurance, but hey, just remember that when you get your denial you just send it straight to the other insurance. Also, you need to call back tomorrow and schedule your dietary consult for one of the days you will be there so you dont have to worry about that. Hope all goes well...talk soon...D'Lynn

Patrice I was in a similar situation. I am covered with my employer for health insurance. My health insurance plan has an exclusion clause for medical and surgical treatment of morbid obesity. I am also covered with my husband's employer. His insurance approved my RNY surgery and paid just as if it was my primary company. The bill will have to be submitted to the primary company. When the denial is received the bill is then submitted to the secondary insurance company with a copy of the denial letter from the primary company. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information. Carolyn
