OH family...Need your advise...
I have a friend that is now 1 year out and is at her goal weight. She has hunger pains and eats pretty regular meals now. She has recently gained 7 lbs and is concerned. Her clothes do not fit any different but her scales show the increase of 7 lbs.
Should she be too concerned about this? Has anyone else had this problem? What is the best way to maintain the goal weight?
Wel i have a freind and she is almost three years out ..Now she just gained 20 pounds i think but she knows why ..i think once you are at goal it is all up to you !!! i think it goes back to dieting and watching what your eating and are you working out and all that jazz ....So if she is fine with the 7 pounds then no big deal but she needs to waht what she is eating to make sure she is not goingto gain more ...I mean we all know that this is not a guarenteed weight loss ...That this is a tool and we can make it work or make it fail ...WE can gain it all back ...there has been plenty of people that have had that happen to them ...But i think she needs to go on how she feels and if she is worried then yes she needs to do soemething ...But if she is cool with it then no worries ...But you can gain once you hit goal ....But i think it is easier to get back into check once you get to that point !!!

Hi Christy
I will be 1 year post op on Thurs 2/3, but I am not @ my goal yet. I have about 30 more pounds I would really like to shed, but I have found these last couple of months have been tricky. From what my surgeon said, once you start getting closer to your goal & are past the 1 year mark you really have to take major control. He stresses learning this before you get there so that it isn't as challenging. For me, I resided to the fact that I am not & will not ever be like a "normal" weight person before I even had surgery. What I mean by that is no matter what this tool offers me I will have a life long battle & have to adjust my lifestyle accordingly. Unfortunately, just like any other disease or addiction if you will - you are not cured but controlled. That being said, I am finding that exercise, H20, Protein & limited carbs are my things to focus on, but really that is just keeping up with the basics I guess
I hope that helps some, good luck & God bless to you & your friend.

I have a HUGE fear of re-gaining weight. I have almost obsessivly been working out since day 1 and I know me well enough to know that I will spend the rest of my years watching everything that goes into my body vs. how much exercise I get.
I've been told it's not unusual to regain about 8 - 15 lbs once you get to goal. I've set a personal goal lower than my doctors so I can keep strivng to keep the weight off.
I also have set another goal in my life - and that is to become a group fitness instructor. I have worked very hard to get at where I'm going and I will be going for my first certification on April 9th (Tentatively).
As Laura siad, this is a TOOL and we MUST learn how to work it for the rest of our lives. We will never stop having to watch what we eat and the amount of carbs/fats/calories will always be prevalant.
I wish the best of luck to you and your friend. Remind her what she has is a tool and she ca get the 7 lbs off if she uses the skills she has.
Good luck and God bless!!!
