1ST CONSULT SCHEDULED!!!!
Ok ladies and gentlemen, I have a date for a consult with Dr. Hart. Feb. 21st at 10:00am. I am so pumped I can't stand it. I have read your letters of encouragement to others and can't believe the commoradory. (hope thats correct spelling) You are all Angels! I know this is going to be a long process, and I am very impatient! So, I need your prayers....not for patience....but for a smooth and uneventful process! I know what praying for patience will get me!!!
For all of you who have used Dr. Hart, could you please let me know what to expect on my first visit?! I would appreciate your response.
Thanks so much from "THE NEW KID"!!
Karen,
My first appt. with Dr. Hart took about 2 hours. When I got there I talked to Mildred first. She got weight, height, BP stuff like that. Then I went into a room with a few other people and Dr. Hart spoke to us. (Very informative). After that I went back into a room and Dr. Hart gave a quick physical and asked a few questions and Mildred came back in to explain some of the tests they require before surgery. Every one is very friendly. I went alone and was very nervous but they are all really nice and helpful. Good Luck!!
I used Dr. Hart and my first visit was as described above. If you get it now, go ahead and have copies of your last 5 years of medical records made at your PCPs office to take with you, plus do your diet history - what diets you've been on, the approximate dates, how much you lost and how much you regained. Also, if your PCP is behind it, have them do a letter of medical necessity. If you have all of this up front, it will shorten the time from your first visit to your surgery.
Good luck!! Let us know if you have any other questions.

After you go through the appointment as described above, go ahead and have a calendar in front of you. Mildred will come back in and give you dates that are available for you to have all your tests done. They try to do them in 2 days back to back so you dont have to take off radical days. Everyone at Emory Dunwoody is wonderful was well. When you go to have your tests done, ask about seeing the unit, it is absolutely beautiful. If Gary does your respiratory tests, he will be so excited to tell you about it and show you the unit. Also, make sure you take your veins with you because you will be having several sticks....but it is necessary to get where you want to be. I have finished all of my required things, and I waiting on Dr Boscovitch to finish my psychological eval typed up, she said it should be done Friday or Tuesday next week at the latest. This usually takes the longest.
