having a "why me?" moment
My surgery is fast approaching (Wednesday February 2nd). Yesterday morning I stepped out of the shower on the tile floor and slipped. The more I tried to stop myself from falling the faster I went and I ended up in a full straddle position. Now I can barely walk and my knees are severely bruised and swollen. I met with the anthestiolgist yesterday at Emory Dunwoody Medical Center and he told me it was ok for me to take pain medication. I know this is a minor thing but it is such a struggle just to get around or try to sit down to go to the bathroom. I just keep thinking "I have so much to do before surgery".
Sorry for venting!
Hey, Girlfriend!!! With the weather today too, I have a feeling you are suppose to take it easy. Do your pain meds help you sleep? I sure hope they do!!! I am sooooo sorry that you fell. It hurts just thinking about it. Vent away!!! Seriously, you have been in my thoughts and prayers big time today!
Love,
Becky
You are the greatest! I am trying to take it easy and stretch a little so that my muscles don't stiffen. I am sure I will feel much better in the next couple of days. Fortunately, the pain meds do help me sleep. I am usually a very active person so this is a tough one for me but maybe this is Gods way of telling me to slow down and rest before my surgery.
Hi Kimberly,
The nesting syndrome seems to kick in after getting aproval and surgery date and the week before it really goes into overdrive. Try to relax and not sweat the small stuff.
I came down with a sinus infection the week before surgery and was worried about the meds my pcp had prescribed. Before getting it filled I walked over to Dr Hart's office and spoke with the nurse to make sure it was ok to take (my pcp is right across the hall). The Sunday before surgery I woke up with a yeast infection (from the antibotic) and what I thought was pinkeye! I was beginning to wonder if someone was trying to give me a sign that maybe this was not my time to have surgery. I did not dwell on it too much and had surgery as planned.
Good luck! You have a great surgeon and Emory is a fantastic hospital.

DOnt worry Kimberly. Although you are going to the losing side on Wednesday, at least for this particular incident, you had the padding to protect you from a serious break....true??? I have fallen a few times, and though...hmmm glad God gave me some padding so it didnt hurt anything too bad. Just take it easy, take your meds, and relax while you wait for wednesday to get here. God has plans for you...and you will do great. The 2 and 3 days of accidents...no matter which kind, are always the worse...then you start getting better.

Ouch!
Lord, I always feared falling. With all this weight, I figured it'd kill me....then I look back and think, Good Grief, Joyce, you've fallen a bazillion times in your life and only 2 years ago did it actually hurt you! It got to the point to where I became the family joke, I fell at the beach twice, had to wallow up out of the sand as the fireworks we were shooting were sending embers all over my polyester robe!! I expected to ignite!...Once in the mud at my house, while my cousin laughed hysterically in the car. She had just dropped me off! She still cracks up over the memory. *eyeroll*.
Sometimes falls are funny.....Yours certainly wasn't. It hurts me to think about it. Hang in there. Take your meds. Good luck on your upcoming date.
