What is wrong with me?

Hi everybody, I hope that someone can help me. I had my surgery on Dec 13, 2004. Within the first 2 weeks I lost 20 pounds. In the last 5 weeks I've lost 5. I have done everything they told me to do. I exercise 5 times a week swimming laps and doing water aerobics, I'm drinking my protein shakes, I'm eating right. What more can I do? I'm so discouraged! I just don't know what is wrong with me! Other people that have had the surgery around the same time as me are losing like crazy. Some are even eating fast food and STILL losing faster than me-and they started at around the same weight. Geez......I'm wondering if it was worth it.

That is normal Don't forget to add weight-bearing exercise like walking or regular aerobics. That helps build up your bones. Sherry

Hi Mary, After re-reading your post, I notice you don't mention what your water intake is. Are you getting enough daily water? I know that is a problem with me, as for the past two weeks, I seemed to have "plateaued" in my weight loss, and I HATE drinking water...always have! I have to keep reminding myself to drink water during the day, and there is no way I can get in the required amount of 48 ounces, daily, even though I know I should. I am doing good to get in 24 to 32 ounces. I know I need to pump up the water intake, and I am trying. I just wanted to say, that perhaps that is where your problem lies if you are not getting the right amount of water in. It sounds like you are doing everything right according to what you say. Maybe you should consult with your physician or Nurtitionist and get some input on what you else you may need to do. Believe me, I understand your frustration! I have had moments of panic, thinking, "Is this what I went through all the trouble for?? To lose this amount of weight and stop??" Hang in there, girl....I know your will continue losing. I make the mistake, myself, of reading posts of others that are losing quickly and get to thinking I should be in the same category as well, but I just have to keep the faith that things will steadily get better. I wish you the best. God bless you! Pat

You also don't mention how many calories you are eating--just protein shakes. If you don't eat enough, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto every ounce with a vengeance.

Remind yourself what the "big picture" is. You've lost 25 lbs. in 7 weeks. That's incredibly wonderful! Psssst...but, actually, I DO know how frustrating it can be. Hang in there...it's gonna come off! There are tons (no pun intended) of folks on here at the same point as me and have lost LOTS more. We just can't compare. We'll drive ourselves crazy!
