Ok, I am officially starting to get nervous. I knew it would happen. Everyone told me. Now I have to deal with it. Of all the questions I have asked everyone, including my surgeon, it completely slipped my ming to ask about how long my surgery will be. CRAZY ME!!! Can someone that had an open RNY please give me an idea. I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I wanted to let you guys know that Debra Bentley and Patricia Tate will both be posting about my surgery next week. Both these ladies have been so wonderful to me. I don't know what I would have done without them. Once again I will be at Emory Crawford Long in Atlanta. My surgery is scheduled for 1:30. I hope it doesn't get pushed back. Although, I know with my surgeon doing others that day, it could be a distinct possibility. I know I have the number around here somewhere. I was just looking at it yesterday. I just spent ten minutes looking through all my paperwork and didn't find it. I will look again later. NERVES!!!They are clouding my brain. Hugggss!! Tonya Waters

I am not sure who your surgeon is - but I had an open RNY with a 3" incision. I've heard of the incision being stem to stern though - so I believe that it is up to your doctor. I wish you the best of luck as you journey to the loosing side!!! God speed! Dee Dee

Tonya, I agree with Dee Dee, every surgeon is different. My incision was 8 inches long, but with my RNY, I also had a hernia repair and my gallbladder removed. Good luck with everything, and remember that it is so normal to be nervous right now! Cathy

My open Fobi Pou*****ision was 2.5 or 3 inches. It started right at the base of my sternom. I found it difficult to wear a bra after surgery because it rubbed on the incision, OUCH! As you lose weight then the incision goes down with the skin. Mine now is on upper stomach. Kinda weird that it travels!!! Don't feel bad about reviewing your info, I still do. I re-read it when something happens or I think of a question. I'm 5 months out. Lynn
