Hi everybody I just started my journey for the WLS today I had my initial consult with DR Hixon and he told me I was a canidate for the surgery I'm beside myself with hope!! However I'm on medicaid and unemployed and as you all know have to get a psych eval to proceed. I need to know if any of you know a dr that does psych evals that take medicaid. I've been quoted $300 today by 3 different drs. Can anybody help me???? Kristy

Kristy, I know this might sound like DUH, but have you talked with Pam in Dr. Hixon's office. She might know of one right off the bat or someone that could help. You can also call Medicaid (phone number on back of card) and ask them for a physician referral in your area that accepts your insurance. Congrats! Dr. Hixon is my Dr, so I praise him for everything he has assisted me in doing. What is close to where you live. (Geography is not my strong suit) Welcome to the journey. Lynn

Hi again Lynn I just messaged you guess we did it at the same time. lol I did ask them at the office and they werent sure of any dr's but gave me a lead for the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. I would rather find something in the Atlanta area but if not I'm Augusta bound!~ You asked where I live, I live in Stockbridge Ga just east of downtown Atlanta. I'm trying not to get sooooooooo excited i h8 denials BTW thanks for the suggestion of callling medicaid I didnt think of that Kristy

Dr. Greg Cox (obesity2balance.com)will charge you based on what you make, and if you dont work he might give you a lower rate than others, my insurance didnt cover my eval. either. So I worked something out with him to make payments for the amount that he charged me since I too was not working when I had my test done. Jen
