How am i suppose to get in 64oz of water a day i dont get it especially sipping and trying to eat three meals help how does it work? Pain wise I am fine but physically i have no strength my doctor said i might be dehydrated and told me to drink gatorade okay now where am I going to put that. I had this all figured out before surgery now I feel like I failing.

I don't think there are many of us that are able to get in 64 ounces of water right after surgery. I can't get that much in, even now, and I am almost six weeks out. But I do get in as much as I can, by constantly sipping throughout the day.
I guess you just have to keep sipping..take your water bottle with you around the house and just keep taking little sips throughout the day, and get in as much as you can.
It's so good to see you are doing well, and not having much pain. It is also natural for most of us to be physically weak after surgery, but you are right to ask your doctor about it. I felt so physicaly drained for about the first week or two, then little by little, it improved. Just give yourself some time.

Try sipping 3 ounces of liquids at a time. I purchase 3 ounces cups and I use a food diary to keep track of my intake. I getting about 54 ounces of liquids a day. My goal is to get 32 ounces of water and 32 ounces of milk.

I also use Mayfield Dairy Farms fudge stix-SF FF for fluid-1.75oz-3 g protein.
Fudge stix-1.75 oz-5 stix equals 15 grams of proteins.

I am nearly 8 weeks out now, and I still have trouble getting in my 64oz per day. And water just doesn't settle well with me, so I try to get in as close to 64 oz of LIQUID per day. In the beginning, when I was just on liquids, I counted everything I took in. Protien shakes, sf popsickles, sf jello, broth, and all of my Crystal Light drinks.
Brfore surgery I was such a guzzler that it is strange that I am now having trouble getting my fluids in. I could have finished off a 2 L Pepsi without a problem before. Now it takes me 2-3 days to finish off 2 L of Crystal light. And the rule of not drinking during a meal has been the hardest for me. I felt like I couldn't eat because my food seemed to get stuck in my throat. I finally called the Dr and he said small sips to allow my food to go down was ok, but not to start going overboard with it as it would also wash the food thru to quickly to get the nutrients I needed from it.
I now know when I am not getting enough to drink. My legs start to hurt. Not deep down hurt, but surface hurt. I am told that when that starts to happen to drink, drink, drink... I am starting to get dehydrated. So thats what I do. I never dreamt in a million years that drinking would be my biggest hurdle to jump in this process. It does get easier, and I am told that eventually, I will be able to get alot more fluids in. I am looking forward to that day.

I was having trouble getting all the fluid in first out too. I am now 5 months out and it is still hard sometimes to do it all. I actually was able to talk my boss into letting me put my very own personal water cooler in my office so now I just have to roll over fill up the cup and sip all day. Good luck and I hope you are able to get it worked out soon. I did start feeling better when my liquids got in like they should.
