anyone with cigna, HELP!

First let me say that I have been in this process since about November of last year. I have done all the pre reqs, cigna paid for everything except the physch eval which was done under my EAP through my employer. Well I have talked with Cigna several times and this was never mentioned but, I called back again today to see if my packet was faxed to them yet. Well the girl came back to the phone and said I can't find anything but we won't even look at it anyway. I said why. She said that as of 2005 they are not covering gastric bypass. Well I work for a school district and our coverage runs from July 1 through June 30. I am still in my prior year and did not think that this would apply to me. She assured me it would. I asked why I was never informed of this the numerous times that I have talked with Cigna. She said I should have been. Well why are they paying for the inital consults, appts. in January etc., if they were not going to pay. I need some help. I called my benefits administrator here in town and she said that she did not think it would apply to me either due to the way our renewal runs, but she called state merit and I have the #'s of some folks who administer the plan in Atlanta and help people with problems with HMO's. Any suggestions, help etc., I feel so helpless and am upset at the same time but am going to do whatever it takes to make them pay Maybe my weekend will be better later, Nalani

Hi Nalani, sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble. There is a Yahoo group called Cignassqueakywheels, this group site has lots of info. concerning dealing with Cigna. There is a patient advocate(Roberta) that might be able to help you. Good luck! James
