As long as you have researched the surgery, know the risks, and truly researched your surgeon, you have nothing to worry about. The surgery will give you your life back. Understand love ones fears, however, something can happen to you just going out side your door every day. Can't be afraid of life or the surgery, believe you me, it was the best thing that I have every done in my life, I am now 50 years old, started out at 310lbs, surgery date Oct 14, lost 57lbs since surgery and a total of 91 lbs since I started my journey, I am now in a size 18, can't believe it, its been over 25 years since I was that small and if I did not loose anymore weight, I am blessed. I can walk, run and work now. Hang in there, keep your faith, all will be well. YOu will soon be on the other side with us. Support from me to you.
I know. My mother is the type of person that will be supportive, but will tell you all the horror stories to go along with it, lol. I have done all the research and I am confortable with my decision of having the surgery. I will admit I am scared, but not enough not to have the surgery. I want to do this so I can have a healthier life and be here longer for my husband and children. I guess its just harder for people who have never had a weight problem to fully understand what one goes through with having one. Hope that made sense, lol.
Kimberly,
That is a scary story, but as I explained to my husband, the patients that succeed and do well after surgery far outweigh the ones who do not or die. I believe in the surgery and as someone else stated, you have to research your Dr and the hospital in which you are having surgery in order to feel totally safe with the procedure.
