You all are the BEST!! (Dad update)
Well, after I taked to Tonya, we got lab results...turns out dad DID have a heart attack, and there is some damage to his heart, but at this time we are not sure of the extent.
He is being transported to Emory Hospital this morning and will have catheritization at 2pm this afternoon. Then we should have a much better idea of the extent of things.
I left the hospital about 9pm last night, and he was stable, and being his usual "wise-acre" self! (Now you know where I get my smart mouth! LOL)
As you all know, I have been working my fool butt of lately, and so, I am leaving in just a few minutes to go into the office for a couple of hour really really early this morning, and then be out of there, to be at the hospital in time to follow the ambulance down to Emory.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now...let me say how utterly FABULOUS you all are!!!! Amy, I thank you and Kenneth for posting on the boards for me. I was literally running into the hospital entrance when I hung up from Kenneth, so if I seemed rude, I apologize. I just knew I needed prayer and I needed it quick...and I knew this was DEFINITELY a place for it! Tell Kenneth he's the best!
To my wonderful Georgia Gang... I saw all your prayers and offers of assistance, and you all ROCK!!! Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Let's see...someone asked if I was having to travel...no...dad lives in Tucker/Decatur area and the stubborn man DROVE HIMSELF to Northlake Regional!!! Scared the bejeebers out of me.... but he lives less than a mile from the hospital and he didn't want to pay for the Ambulance! (Now you know where I get my stubbornness from too! LOL!)
However, my brother and I both (individually) were NOT going the speed limit (sorry Ofc. Kwill) and were flashing our emergency lights tearing down I-85 to get to the hospital.
Emotions were high yesterday not only from Dad's scare, but because this was the EXACT same way we came tearing to the same hospital just over 3 years ago, for my mom, only the results were very different. She didn't make it. And then, when we got to the hospital, the nurse directed us to a room where dad was, and for a moment, both Tom & I just froze, because for a second, we thought dad was in the same room mom had been in. Turns out, he was in an observation "bay" type room (RIGHT NEXT DOOR) where he was all hooked up.... we asked the staff in ER to PLEASE not transfer him into that other room, as he was in tears thinking of mom, and that certainly was NOT helping things...
If I may ask, please continue your prayers....hoping for good results today.
Thank you all.....
I will say a special prayer for your Dad. I will also pray for you and your brother. I remember one time Daddy was in the hospital and my sister and I was at the hospital so much one of our friends said she thought Jean ( I was not married at the time ) thought more of Mama and Daddy than she did her husband . Jean said "You can always get another husband , but you can never get another Mama and Daddy !! " Of course she was kidding , she still has the same husband after 30 years . God bless you and your family. Judy
You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. Tami if any of us can do anything please ask. Once your Dad gets out and about we have to meet him. It seems the apple did not fall very far from the tree.
We love you. Don't get yourself so over extended that you get sick, O.K.? Dad is more important right now and sleep along with food, water, etc.....
Take care and many many hugs and back rubs of support.
So glad to hear you're daddy is stable. I'm praying the results will be positive for you all. We have a tendency to forget how quickly things can happen. My dad is 80 and the caretaker of my mom who has alzheimers. I catch myself thinking they're gonna live forever...*sigh*...We all know that's not true. Course, dad's elderly. I remember 15 years ago when he had his bypass. It was really scary for all of us, but he did great and continues to be in pretty good health for his age. Best of luck to you and yours, Tami.
