Good news is that I have an appointment tomorrow at 2 with my psych. That was much sooner than I planned. So by next week I should have all my paper work and tests completed. Bad news - ouch at what it costs for the eval - over 500 dollars....how much was everyone else's eval and did insurance cover it? I have a 700 dollar deductible, so guess what? I wont have to pay that before surgery because between her and the pre testing..it will take care of it...lol. D'Lynn

Congrats on getting your psych eval sooner than expected...my eval was 495.00, but my insurance covered it and all I had to pay was the co-pay. Maybe you could check that out! ~Nicole

My psych eval was $330, and insurance reimbursed $300. I had pre-approval to go out of network. People talk about passing and having IQ results...nothing like that for me. The psychologist interviewed me and administered an evaluative questionnaire with hundreds of items...nothing intelligence-related - Thank the Lord. I think it was more like a personality profile. She then submitted a report stating whether or not I was a good candidate for the surgery. Maybe the difference in amounts that people are charged is related to the instruments being administered by the psychologists?!?! That would make sense! Sounds like your cost would go toward your deductible anyway! Hugs, Becky

I too had to pay for my eval. however because he was a out of network doc, he filed it with insurance and then I will pay what doesnt get covered by insurance. being that the total bill would cover my deductable for my out of network doc's. I too worried about my deductable, and I didnt have to pay it at the hospital either, they told me they would bill me after they bill insurance. so that was cool Jen

We have a Mental Health Policy with our insurance. All I had to pay was my $15 co-pay. But since it was for WLS, I had to have it pre-approved and go thru a long process. It was a pain, but I got thru it all. And it was worth it.
