Recommendation for Dr in Marietta area?

ok, so i have been interested in getting this surgery for awhile now and i am pretty sure that i would qualify for the surgery but i really need to get on the ball on seeing a Doctor. I know that sometimes, with insurance, you have to see a Dr about your weight for like 6 months and then they recommend it, but does anyone know a Dr in the area of Marietta that i can see about losing weight and eventually recommending the surgery? Any advise would help.

Its funny you mentioned him because i think i have sent in an application to start the procedure but was denied because of insurance so i thought i would start from bottom up and see a dr who will put me on a diet with medication or monitoring my diet then recommend the surgery. DOes he do that as well?? i mean, like a regular doctor??

Hi Natalia I highly recommend Dr. Champion in Marietta. He is @ 140 Vann St. Suite 350. He has a website @ drchampion.com (just add www.). He did my surgery & I love him & his staff. The insurance companies *****quire the diet are also requiring that it not be with a surgeon who performs bariatric surgery. You need to find a pcp, internist, or bariatric physician who doesn't do surgery. Valerie Wender is a WLS friendly internist. She has several post op patients. I would give her a call and see if you could get her to supervise your diet. 404-256-8500.

Natalia, On the website for Northside Medical Center (Alpharetta), there is a link that I went to requesting info for doctors in the area that could assist me with my quest to obtain weight loss surgery. I got a response back from them within 24hrs. I no longer have the info as I chose to see a physician recommended by a family friend. However, you could probably get info from the same source. As I recall they listed three doctors. Linda
