Are we ever safe again?
So I read here that someone actually got a leak many months after surgery. I thought that once your pouch heals then it is as good as new. I have read alot about this surgery but never seen this situation before. Is this common? What causes it? Are we ever out of danger (free of wls complications) after this surgery?
Thanks Everyone,
Sam S
Sam, correct me if I'm wrong, but are you referring to the person, I think it was, Ms. Thang, who had her gall bladder removed and developed a leak?? If that is what you are referring to, that leak and the pouch leak are two completely different things.
If that is not to whom you refer, could you point me in the correct direction?
Like you, I have never read of a person developing a leak once the pouch was healed, I guess anything is possible, but never heard of it before.
I have been told that a leak is a technical error on the part of the operating staff. As a leak survivor, it is not something I wish on my worst enemy.
A little scary statistic, I have been told that 40% who develope a leak do not survive. That is why research is so important before you put your life in the hands of any surgeon.
