Is this normal??

Hey everyone-had an appt with my ### today for clearance. Dr. Hart is my surgeon...have my first consult with him on the 17th. He sent me paperwork and list of things to bring to first appt--one was "Medical Clearance from your ###" My ### said he would gladly write a letter of necessity saying I was a good candidate and needed surgery in his opinion. He would NOT write a letter of clearance, though. He said to do that, he needed a chest x-ray, complete blood work and a stress test. He was uncertain if he needed to order this stuff himself or if Dr. Hart would be ordering it. Who normally orders the things necessary for clearance? I hope I'm not slowing my process by showing up Mon. without all the things I'm expected to have! Thanks... Michelle

That is correct you get a letter of recomendation first and then right before your surgery you get the letter of clearence which involves the blood work and all that jazz ....So you will get two letters from him probley ....so i think you are good ..... Laura

I use Dr. Hart and he scheduled all of that for me. My PCP did some blood work on me, but Dr. Hart ordered it again. Just leave it to him and he will get it done. Congratulations!! My day is coming fast---February 1!! Carol

Michelle, Hey I can't wait for our appointment on Monday. I am so excited. I got all my things cleared up with the insurance because I almost didnt get to go. I had a pre-existing clause on my policy for some unknown reason. Well I did my homework and fixed that. It isnt there anymore. I hope you have insurance coverage beccause I talked to Mildred today and the office visit for Monday is astronomical. Thank goodness my co-pay is only 30 bucks. Anyway, Like you I have my medical recommendation with some of my problems listed and I know I have to have a thyroid panel for insurance to pay. I was going to get that but if Dr. Hart will order it, I will just wait until Monday...I am so excited and can't wait to meet you. D'Lynn
