Hi Jennifer, Every doctor may have different time frames as to when it is removed, however mine was taken out on my first follow up visit a little more than a week later. I had heard some say that the removal was quite painful, but for me, I hardly felt it at all...for which I was very glad! I asked my doctor's nurse where the fluid goes after the tube is removed...if it goes straight into the body cavity or what...and she said the tube was draining fluid FROM the body cavity to help prevent infection from occurring. Learning this really helped me to feel better about it. The place where the tube was soon scabbed over after removal and now is all healed up. I hope this helps, and God bless you! Pat

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON YOU BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE TUBES WHEN I LEFT BUT I DID WHEN I HAD THE SECOND SURGERY.

I am having my surgery on Monday and was told by my doctor that I wouldn't have drainage tubes so I guess it depends on the person and the doctor. Good Luck! ~Bonnie

I would look for someone who has your surgeon and ask them. I have my surgery February 2nd and asked Dr. Hart about a drainage tube. He apparently uses one while you are in the hospital but rarely sends you home with one.
