Needing answers and support....

I have been a member here for almost a year and I have not posted in a long while. I come online to read on what is going on and I am so happy that so many of you are having the surgery and making the biggest change that you could. However, my insurance company is not going to approve me for the surgery no matter how hard I fight and I am not able to pay for it out of pocket. I have come to a place inside of me to where I know that it is in God's hands and that I have to try even harder to lose the weight that I have to lose. I am wondering if there is anyone out there that is just here for the support that has not, can not, or will not have the surgery? I am in much need of support and I am not sure where to look other than here. Thanks in advance for any advice that might be given. Hugs, Feeling Lost

I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. We all do understand because we have been there in trying to lose weight before. Although you might not ever be having surgery, this site is here for support. I know before my surgery I would come here and other site often to get that encouragement to change. Also this surgery is NOT a cure all. It's wonderful to start that weight loss, but ultimately it does come back to us and changing our relationship with food. Coming here inspired me to do better for myself and look at my self differently. Even though it's people who've had surgery this site is open to anyone that suffers from obesity and need support. I'm pre-op and my doc wants me to lose 60lbs BEFORE surgery! But you know you do what you have to do, I have lost 27lbs in 13 weeks. Be encouraged... :smile:

You are doing really well! Do you know why your doctor is requiring such a large weight loss before your surgery?

I dunno Linda... I think he wants his patients to be at a certain BMI range to decrease the surgical risk Janet

I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this. BUT, we are here for you whether you can have the surgery or not. This is the best support group there ever was and will be. You ought to try and come to the Bahama Breeze get together Saturday night and get to meet a lot of us.
