update
Well I went to the Dietician yesterday and I really like her, except she is convinced she can talk me out of the surgery. I she doesnt realize I have tried before and really I am doing this for the requirement for the insurance company. I have to see her 3 times a month for 6 months and my pcp once a month and be weighted at each visit. All this is out of pocket. So I have decided to use this as education on how to make better choices after the surgery, for me and my family. Has any one else been thru this and how did you keep your motivation?
Erin, I have PHCS also, I didn't have to have to see a dietician, just 6 consecutive months of dr. supervised diet. They were very strict about the 6 months being consecutive. But my pcp just sent in a simple letter stating my monthly weight, my comobities, and his opinion that he felt the surgery would greatly improve my health and they approved me within just a week. I wonder if things have changed this year, cause I specifically(sp) asked if I had to see a dietician and they said no, just my pcp, and he worked with me because I had already been to him a couple of months consecutively and he added those as well, even though I wasn't on a strict diet, just cutting back myself. Good luck, Donna
If I can ask, who was the dietician? I don't live too far from you and the one I used is ONLY used by the WLS doctor. She never gave any sign of what her opinions were - she just stated the facts and answered all our questions.
That just floors me - you have made this choice! It is not some tiny little fit person's business what you decide to do!
Okay...breathe...count to 5...and I am over my little rant.
