hey everyone, as you may know I have been worried about having to pay my 600 dollar deductable upfront for my surgery, however to day as I sent and saw the surgeron and then went to the hospital for pre-op they never asked me for my deductable. they just said I have to give permission to bill my insurance company.. but I didnt run into a problem. when I saw the surgeron he asked if i had EVER had chest pains, and well dumb me goes and says yeah about 6 years ago when I was in pt training for the police acedamy.. But I was also made to run 5 miles.. who wouldnt hurt.. so he put my surgeron on hold until I see the cardiologist.. and Im set for surgery on next friday the 14th.. OMG.. I just cant believe it.. but the hospital did a chest x-ray and thank god the surgerons nurses are going to take it over to the cardio guy in the hospital and let him look at them.. I just cant believe he is making me go thru this , with surgery being a week away... wish me luck jen

Jennifer, I know where you are coming from. When I had my own pre-op, they did almost the same thing to me. The anesthesiologist that interviewd me decided I needed a stress test since my last one was longer than 10 years ago. This was only days before my scheduled surgery, so they postponed it until the test was done. This was the SECOND time my surgery had been postponed...the first time due to a scheduling error. I was devastated, to say the least. They finally did it a week later after the test came back clean. I know exactly how frustrated you must feel, but please know that it is for the best. I will be holding you in my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out in your favor. God bless you! Pat

Hey Jen The exact same thing happened to me. My pre-op was 12/02 and my surgery was scheduled for 12/13. The anesthesiologists requested that I have a stress test as well prior to surgery. I ended up getting my stress test done on 12/09 and the test was faxed to the surgeons office the next day. I was a nervous wreck hoping and praying it wouldn't cause my surgery to be canceled. I said all that to say I know how you feel and will be keeping you in my prayers that your results come back fine and that your surgery goes according to plan. Spice

How is the stress test done? I'm pretty sure I will not pass? I am waiting for my surgeon to schedule me a date. Does everyone see an anesthesiologist before hand? Loretta

Most stress test are done by hooking up EKG leads to your chest and having your heart rhythm and blood pressure checked while walking on a treadmill. However, for those who have bad backs, knees and feet, and are unable to walk much, they can doa Thallium Stress Test, where they inject a dye into your veins which stresses the heart. If able some walk on the treadmill still, others do not. I have had both. And I thought having to be there at 7:00am to walk and my family history was plenty enough stress, but they still wanted me to walk..... The nerve of them... LOL

Hey Jennifer, At least you are near the end now. It is better to be safe than sorry. At least this way, there can be no surprises popping up. You are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need anything, just yell. Hugs, Debra =^..^=
