Dr clarence Hixon? Fobi vs RNY?
I had my first visit today with the dr. and they did blood work and all and i have to go for a psych eval and see a neutrionalist - but anyway what is the diffrence between RNY and Fobi? Which is better? Anyone know Clarence Hixon, MD - in Atlanta? He is super nice and spent plenty of time with me but just checking.
I sent you an email more detailed, but I have had the Fobi RNY. Dr. Hixon was a colleague of my suregon, Dr. C. Burrowes, before he recently left in good standing, to start his own practice. The Fobi sort of negates leaks as the intestine is wrapped around the pouch in a fashion to keep anything coming out of the pouch IN the intestine. Good Luck with your decision and continued journey. Oh! It also involves a plastic ring at the mouth of the pouch that can be adjusted, if needed, in later years, to keep you from stretching the opening to allow to much to pass through.
I had Dr. Hixon as my surgeon and loved him. You can go to www.fobipouch.com to read about what happens, including pictures and diagrams. The website was created by Dr. Fobi who invented this surgery. I decided on the Fobi because if there is a will there is a way with cheating with me. The Fobi ensures that if I cheat I pay and I will not be able to stretch out again and be able to gorged on food.
As for Dr Hixon office, Sarah was working there when I went through this and was very helpful and full of good information. A new girl is there now and a little over bearing at times, but she is learning. He also hired another nurse and guess what she is Sarahs best friend so she will help you as well.
I had an allergic reaction to the antibodics you take the night before surgery. My husband had to call/page Dr Hixon at 3 am. Believe me he called back in 15 minutes and told us to drive up to the hospital. (I live about 1:30 minutes away) When we got there he had the nurses already prepared and they got me back and took care of everything. So for professional manner and on the ball he won my vote.
My last comment is that I didnt want to go to a conveyer belt WLS surgeon. Dr Hixon does other surgeries for bariatric. He has studied and know all what can and can not happen. That is what I based my decision on and the complications other patiences have had. Get the facts from every Dr. Then see if they can see what you want to see at the end of this journey.
Hope this helps, you can privately email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I will be glad to answer. As for your journey congrats you are well worth every ounce of effort you put forward!
