hey everyone, Im set for surgery on Jan 14 and today I spoke with insurance and they said I was going to have to pay my deductable before I get to have surgery?? Has anyone had this problem.. I was thinking that the hospital would bill insurance and then bill me.. I dont have $600 just laying around for this sorta thing.. It will really suck if I dont get to have surgery now.. Jenn

Luckily for me, my hospital charges are waived as long as I use an HCA facility because I am an HCA employee. However, I had to pay my doctor the 20% remaining of my $3000 maximum annual out of pocket. That came up to nearly $1500. I called my mom in tears thinking after all I had been thru, I wasn't gonna be able to have my surgery. To say the least I was heart broken. My mom gave me a momma-loan to use until my income tax refund comes back. Now I am just hoping that I can lose enough weight before summer gets here because my income tax refund was going to be used to fix the A/C in my car. Depending on when your surgery is scheduled for, keep that in mind as an option for that portion you have to pay, and do like I do and do online income tax filing and use any refund you might get back.

Any chance you have a Flexible Spending Account through your employer?

With my insurance, I had to pay $300 to the hospital before my surgery. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Debra =^..^=

I paid upfront as well...but $200. $600 certainly would be more of a burden. You'll come up with it somehow! Credit union until tax return??

I was told early on in the process that I would have to pay the deductable. Try a friend or relitive or a loan. I will be praying for a breakthru for you. KEEP YOUR CHIN UP> AND PRAY HARD!!!!!!
