Don't know what "stage 3" is, but I guess it's how many months out you are. I had surgery on 11/18/04, so you and I are rapidly coming up on our 3rd month. Right now here is what I can eat (and do!): --> No red meat or dry chicken til 6 months out Shredded or finely chopped beef or chicken, or "cooked to pieces", like in soups, stews, or barbecue Fish Pork Nuts and seeds Beans, peas, legumes SF yogurt Cheese (esp grilled cheese sandwich) Any vegetable (1 cup raw, 1/2 cup cooked) Soups Stews (especially brunswick stew!!) Any fruit (4 oz raw, 1/2 cup canned in natural juices, 1/2 cup fruit juice) Any liquid EXCEPT alcohol or carbonated I'm carefully experimenting with complex carbs and starches now, like breads. I find I can handle toasted white bread, dinner rolls, and corn muffins very well AS LONG AS I CHEW CHEW CHEW and reduce them to mush before I swallow, otherwise it gets stuck. Biscuits are too doughy right now, took just one little nibble to figure that out. I'm very anxious to try rice, since I do so love an old-timey dish called Hoppin' John, where you mix leftover beans or peas with rice. I had leftover blackeyed peas this weekend, and it just about KILLED me to not make Hoppin' John out of them! Ah well, they were great with a corn muffin. My REAL reason for wanting rice is so I can hit my favorite Chinese restaurant and get some Kung Pao Chicken! Plenty of crunchy veggies, small pieces of well cooked chicken, and some SPICE!! Mmmmm.... Lorri 333/275/165 goal ~60 lbs gone forever
