ok...dumb question
I am trying to arrange my mom's flight into town for my surgery. My dad will be here for surgery and my mom for the first couple of days of recovery.
Anyway, Surgery is on a Wednesday at Emory Dunwoody and I know the normal release date is Friday but can anyone tell me about what time they usually release you? This will help me figure out who is going to take me home and pick my mom up
I wish I could help you....I had my surgery at Atlanta Medical Center and they released me early morning...
I thought that most hospitals release people on thier early morning shift....maybe you can call the nurses station at the hospital and ask them. (Possibly when you do your pre-registration - if you do this - maybe you can ask then....)
I hope this helps!
My surgery was at Emory Dunwoody on a Wednesday as well. I was supposed to be discharged on friday, but had to wait until Saturday due to a slight fever, and no urine output. Anyway, I was discharged right around noon. However, I don't think here is any certain time for discharge like hospitals used to do. Now, once your surgeon writes your discharge order, you are then able to go. I knew on friday that as long as my problems were cleared up that I would be discharged the next day. Once the doc came in, I called my mom to come after me and left when she got there. She had to come up from Macon so it took awhile. Nothing was ever said that I had to be gone by any certain time.
BTW, your gonna love it at Emory Dunwoody. I heard someone refer to it as 'The Ritz' the other day. It was great there.

Kimberly, can't help with the discharge question, but I just wanted to say it's great to hear that you are getting that much support from your family for the first days after surgery. (I remember that you were concerned about a lack of support.) I'm sure their support will continue, and increase, once you have the surgery behind you.
Blessings and success to the new *losing* you!
