Questions about protein drinks

Hey gang! Question for you: I'm at the beginning of this journey--first consult on the 17th of this month. I am DETERMINED to make this work for me. I know a lot of people rely on protein drinks in the first stages after surgery. I was thinking if I started looking now for a 'tasty' one, I might find one by the time I need it! The ones my hubby drinks are made with splenda. Do I need to stick to looking at those made with splenda? The first two types I tried were not too good. (okay, downright yucky!) Anyone drinking one they actually like? thanks! Happy Camper

Hi First, welcome & congrats on your decision to pursue this journey. Everyone is different, but you may want to be careful about trying to find a protein drink prior to surgery. I mean you can try them & get an "idea" but often your taste changes postop, or at least mine did, plus your new pouch will have a mind of it's own & what you may can tolerate now - might not be so pleasing after surgery. I, personally, liked the Isopure Zero Carb in vanilla from GNC. My surgeon gave us a few samples to try & they were okay but Isopure was easy on the pouch for me. I would often blend in some sugar-free/carb control yougurt with a bit of ice & that was very good. You will also need to watch artificial sweetners as some people dump on those just like regular sugar. I hope that helps. Good luck & God bless Angel RNY 2/3/04 165 lb since surgery - total: 215 lb since preparing for surgery

We did this question a while back and had lots of posts, but I couldn't find the date of it to refer you to. I tried some as well, but ended up loving the UNJURY. www.unjury.com I do chocolate and vanilla with frozen whole strawberries and a little splenda. To me, it's a real treat. like a real milkshake, but again, everyone's taste is different. Good luck!
