10 days post-op and need a little help
Hi All, Hope you all have a great Christmas.
I need a little help.....I'm 10 days post-op and I'm on my 1st of 4 weeks of pureed food. I am getting in my liquids, my milk and my protien....I just need some 's of what food to eat pureed. Without some new ideas, it's going to be a long 4 weeks.
Thanks, Martha
Hi Marion. Glad to hear you're doin' what the doctor ordered...and you're right, it DOES get boring! I did tuna salad pureed, on a saltine. I found out a week or two into the pureed, I could have a saltine. You can mix p-nut butter with an "all fruit" jam, no sugar added. Heck, just eatin' it off a spoon is pretty good. Egg salad smushed to a fine consistency is something that usually goes down pretty good for some folks. I learned to eat soft boiled eggs that way...smushed with a fork til it was really almost pureed. I lived on frozen fruit pops too, like most folks. Hope this helps!

I lived off of Mexican...you know re-fried beans and occasional bite of chile relleno, uhm uhm. I ate alot of Cream of Wheat with cheese, kind of like cheese grits only with more protein. I also could tolerate crackers so I would eat one or two cheese its and that helped alot. Go to the community on baking and cooking, it gives you alot of good recipes.

Okay, you know I am not very domestic!!! I lived on Campbell's Soup at Hands. I especially liked the "Creamy Chicken" and those with potatoes. Mashed potatoes, the box kind, were a daily food. I also ate peanut butter (reduced fat) on open saltines (one and a half), sugar-free chocolate pudding, sugar-free gelatin, sugar-free Dole's fruit bars, applesauce (half), and bananas (third). I could not handle eggs, though they were allowed, but everyone is different. I don't know how to "puree"!
Hugs,
Becky
I am 26 days post op... My doctor allowed me at 12 days post op to begin solids, on the condition I ate very small bites and chewed them until they were basically pureed. I found that Bean with Bacon Soup was very good, as well as Potato Soup. I am one that has to have small sips of drink to wash my food down my throat. 3 or 4 sips per meal usually gets me thru a meal, but if I don't the solids just don't feel like they make it down. Any solid that can be mashed with a fork should be ok. And my doctor told me to try mine one per day. If it stayed down ok, I knew it was ok later.
Good Luck to you!!!

Hi Martha,
I didn't really puree anything. I ate soups, eggs, jellos, soft chicken, etc.
I went to the grocery store (rode in one of the little motorized buggies! LOL!) and just kind of wandered up and down the aisles looking for things that were appealing to me.
Glad you sound so good!!
Take care!
Tami
I bought baby food, but wound up not using it. I just pretty much did what the others did - tried to use soups and stuff that was already soft. I loved the canned refried beans (used the fat free) with some cheese on them. I also used oatmeal, grits, mashed & baked potatoes, applesauce, etc. It may be hit or miss at this stage to see what your tummy is okay with. Sometimes they are picky, sometimes they aren't!! Good luck.
