Hi everyone I am new to the Georgia message boards, and want to send everyone a great big HUG My husband and I just got orders, we are to report to Fort Benning, Georgia - Feb 1, 2005. I had the duodenal switch on August 12, 2004 - and have had little to no support during and after this surgery. I consider myself a slow loser, and am fighting to stay positive about the loss. I would love to meet new friends and have even heard a few whispers about support meetings in the Atlanta area - I think I could drive if anyone wanted to go Well I hope someone here reads this and responds. PS I know nothing about GA, so if you have any pointers - I would love to hear them. Hugs and Love Jennifer Woods

Jennifer, It's nice to see your smiling face here on the Georgia board! Welcome! I know the board has been a little slow here lately, but I'm sure some people in the columbus area will respond. You will have to keep coming to see when the next meeting will be once you move here Nice to meet you Amy

Hi Jennifer!!! I moved from New Mexico to Valdosta, Georgia (Military also) five years ago, so we're kinda like old neighbors (Military orders are moving us back to New Mexico in July of 2005) I hope that you like it here. Living in Valdosta is totally different from living in Atlanta (I wish I lived in Atlanta, or even in that area!!) There are alot of support groups and meetings in Atlanta, so you'll be in a great place for that. You will also find this board to be the best!!(in my opinion) We are a family, everyone helps eachother out. If you ever need anything, your in the right place! Welcome to the Georgia board! God Bless, Tiffany. Ps- stay positive about your weight loss, everyone loses at a different rate. Soon you'll be at your goal

Hi, Jennifer, I can't help with info. about Fort Benning. I don't even know where it is. I have been lost all over this great state. I can tell you that you will receive support here. We meet in different locations each month to try to spread out the driving requirements. I think we have some really sweet members who live near Fort Benning (if it's near Columbus?!?). We will always be available on this message board no matter the distance. We look forward to making a new friend (YOU)!!! Love, Becky - I'm also a slow loser compared to most, so we're in the same boat.
