Losing Inches and Not Pounds...
Steady Big Boy....
You are doing GREAT!!! You've already have taken the hardest step to have the surgery...now...GET OFF THE SCALE!!!
We are such a slave to the numbers...number on the scale, size of our clothes, amount of protein and calories we're taking in on a daily basis!!
THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF...I PROMISE!! Continue your diet and move your body everyday, in some way...and the weight will come off. No one person is the same...some lose weight by blinking an eyelash while my body thinks it's in a state of constant starvation and likes to "hord" all those fat cells. If you must weigh, only weigh yourself no more that every 2 weeks...but keep off the scale!!
Some current medical research is showing to lose weight more effectively is to INCREASE you calorie intake for 1-2 days each week...just by 100-200 calories. It's said it helps to jump-start your metabolism. Another suggestion was to alternate your exercise routines. One day aerobics, one day weights, one day with a variety...but something different everyday. The theory is that the body gets used to the same-old routine and adjusts your metabolism to it...so basically, you're fighting yourself.
Concentrate on how you feel. With exercise, you are building those strong core muscles...and you will find you have more energy, endurance, and flexibility. With lots of water and protein, you will find that your skin, hair, and nails just look and feel more healthy.
Don't loose the faith.
Hey Big Yank!
One of the hardest things to do is to not compare myself to others. If I try to keep up with everyone else, I will drive myself nuts!
If I may suggest, be very diligent with your protein and water...these are really really key to your success...carbs tend to slow us down. Whenever I feel like I have hit a plateau (and trust me, there have been MANY since July) I kind of go back to the basics for a day or two, and lo and behold, BAM! There will go another couple of pounds!
You may be doing this, I not insenuating you are not, just a suggestion.
I've also been told that sometimes our bodies need to "catch up" with the weight loss, which has to do with the slow down in pounds.
You know the weird thing for me, is I will go through a period where the scale says I'm not losing, and yet, I will undergo a physical change...maybe in my face, waist, arms, etc...where it seems I can really tell a difference.
I guess patience is the name of the game. I wish much more continued success to you! You are doing GREAT!!
(HEY! When are we ever going to get to SEE you? I wish you would come to one of the monthly get togethers! We'd all love to meet you!)
Take care!
