I had RNY on 11/15/04. I've been doing well. The only thing is I don't get a feeling like I've eaten anything when I have my 2- 3 oz of food. I'm eating tuna salad, chicken, cottage cheese w/spaghetti meat sauce, deviled eggs, nuts and the like. I always feel like I could eat more and I want more. I was able to eat 8 oz of puree chili - very soupy at 1 1/2 weeks out. My nutritionist said to instead of the 8 oz eat 4 oz two different times. She wants me to have six small meals or 3 meals 1/2 cup with no snacks. I drink 8-9 8oz glasses of water and sugar free Koolaid. I walk 30 minutes every day. I am considered a lightweight but I have only lost 9 lbs. & about the same number of inches since surgery. What am I doing wrong? Debbie RNY - 9lbs.

Debbie, When I had similiar questions right after surgery, I posted them on the main board. I was advised by Tooter and Patty Butler (both very wise post ops and well respected) that the nerve endings in your tummy are still healing and therefore you don't really feel the feelings of fullness right away. Wait until it has been 4-6 weeks, and low and behold, one day you will eat your typical meal, and think WOW!! No more!! Keep up with your small prescribed meals, as that is what you need for now. Hang in there! It will get better!! Tami 340/238/??
