Information needed!
Hey guys!
I was wondering if anybody had the number to the pre authorization department at BCBS Blue Choice HMO. I remember reading a post on how someone had a direct phone number they called. My time is growing short. My insurance packet was submitted on November 29, 2004 and it is still in review as of today 12/03/04 at 1630 (4:30pm). I would also like some information on how long it took them to approve other WLS.
God Bless!

Hey Debra!
Wow!!!!! What kind of insurance did you have? I wish that was my case.
I try to be so patience with them when I call (insurance), but inside I want to scream. How long does it take to look at some papers? I am so scared that they will say that don't have all the information needed. They don't want to approve anymore surgeries and it is already Dec. It would be very easy for them to stall until January. I cant wait until January because then it will be to late. Thanks for listening to me vent. I won't take up any more of your time. Have fun at the Christmas Party. I can't come because I signed up for overtime. But maybe someday I will get to see you all soon.
Until next time,
Tonya T
Hey Tonya, I have BCBS also but mine is PPO. I think the fact that a neurosurgeon, an orthopedic surgeon and my family doctor all sending in letters had a lot to do with me being accepted so fast. You aren't taking up any of my time. I enjoy talking on here. I have nothing better to do at the moment. Any time you need me just yell or write or call.
Hugs,
Debra =^..^=
Hi Tonya,
Check the back of your insurance card and the number should be there. My info was first submitted by fax around Sept 3 and had to be reubmitted 2 weeks later (bcbs had no record of receiving!) and was denied 3 weeks later due to no letter of medical clearance. The entire package was resubmitted and I was approved within a week. Hope this helps!

Tonya, I will give you the number that is printed on the "Explanation of Benefits" statements that I get periodically. Mind you, this is the number for the BCBS Federal Plan (which is the plan that I have). I think there may be a different number for whatever plan you may have with BCBS. But, at least and perhaps, you can ask them what the correct number is to call according to your own plan..or have them transfer you. The number is
1-800-282-2473
I think that by law, they CANNOT take more than fifteen business days to make a decision one way or the other. I am not sure about this, so don't quote me. However, I do know that they have a deadline with each request submitted.
I hope this helps you. Keep us posted, alright?
God bless you!
