SURGERY POSTPONED AGAIN!!

Today, I went for my pre-op at the hospital. Among the things that were done was an interview with the Anesthesiologist. She asked me when my last stress test was done, and I told her eleven years ago. I also told her that about seven years ago, I had a cardiac catheretization procedure done that had turned out OK. I was told that was not good enough..that due to my age, I would need a more RECENT stress test done before I could have the surgery. My surgeon only does bariatric surgeries on Tuesdays, and the stress test I need would take two days to complete. They scheduled me for Monday afternoon (which was when I was supposed to have the bowel prep) for the stress test. It won't be read and evaluated until Tuesday morning. They won't even talk about doing the surgery until they see the results...and without the bowel prep, I can't have it Tuesday, anyway! I have NO CLUE as to when he will have a "free Tuesday" again!! Right now...I am extremely upset. Needless to say, I was upset at the hospital, too...I'm not so sure they will be happy to see me again. They tell me it is due to the age factor that the stress test is vital to have. What really ticks me off is that my AGE HAS BEEN KNOWN ALL ALONG...for the PAST SIX MONTHS. So, WHY are they waiting until the last minute to say, "ooops...we need a stress test....sorry!" This is the SECOND time I have had to call my kids, who were coming in from out of state for my surgery, and tell them NOT to come...when they had already scheduled the time off. AND..needless to say, THEY are upset too...who can blame them! Please forgive me if I don't respond to any posts here..as I am going to be spending the rest of the afternoon having a good cry!! I have removed the surgery date from my profile, as God only knows when I will be having it done, now! Thank you all who have been there for me up until now, and who have signed my surgery page. Oh Patricia, I am so sorry I was hoping that they would beable to get you in this time. I would be upset at the hospital to, they've known all along, they should have given you all the testing you needed and might have needed at once, but this is the last test right? At least they have checked you over really good, made sure that they know every inch of your body. I will keep you in my prayers for a surgery date really soon. I'm happy that it's not as bad as it could be, keep your head up. After you have your cry, get up, dust yourself off (have some chocolate...lol) and organize your thoughs. You will get this surgery. OH PATRICIA!!!!!!!!!!! This completely sucks!!!!!! I CANNOT believe they waited until THIS pre-op to determine they needed a stress test! DANG!!!! (Hey...at least it wasn't the weight! trying to find a positive here..sorry!) Girl, I don't blame you for being so upset. I know I would be. I wish I could give you a big hug. Hi Pat. I am soooo sorry. I know you are disappointed, but like I told you before.......the time is just not right yet (I have to keep telling myself the same thing.) You already have the approval so you will be able to have the surgery. Hopefully, not a long time from now but in the next few weeks. It is going to happen for you. I am sorry this is happening to you yet again. I found out at my pre-op that I am going to have to get a stress test done as well. Hopefully and prayerfuly I can get this test done this week coming and get the results back before Monday and that they are in my favor. The anesthesiologists is requiring my stress test and he says it's because I am obese, diabetic and an x smoker. I will keep you in my prayers, please keep me in yours as well. Gloria
