Returning to work after Lap

Hey Guys, I just found out today at my pre-op appointment, that I'm going to have a laproscopic procedure. For those of you out there, how long did it take you all to return to work. Melinda F.

I wasn't working at the time of my surgery, but it depends on what type of work you do. If you are at a desk, you can probably go back after a couple of weeks. If your job is more physical, it might take a bit longer. You will be weak the first couple of weeks, so you might even want to start back 1/2 days to see how it goes. Good luck!!! Ann in Duluth

Hi Melinda, Dr. Procter gives you six weeks out of work, but you don't have to take it. I took 3, only because I work in the school system, and we were out most of Thanksgiving week. You are in great hands with Dr. P, he is awesome and so is his staff. I felt NO pain at all after surgery, or when I came home. Personally, I was mostly tired. I could have gone back after a week, but I am glad I didn't. My first day back at work kicked my butt. I was exhausted when I got home. You really do need some time to rest up. If you have no pain, don't let that fool you. But, I have been back 4 days now and am feeling great. Just remember to walk some every day to build up your strength. Melinda i had my surgery on a tuesday and by the next monday i was working half days ....i have a desk job so it was not bad at all ..... Laura

I was out only 2 weeks

Thanks for the post Melinda. My Boss was just asking me how long I was going to be out and I told him I hope to be back in a week but I wasn't too sure yet! Deana

I was only out of work for one week. But I did take it easy (light duty) when I went back. Angela Massey
