Zits

Hey, has anyone had a problem with Zits? This last week my face has broken out terribly and I really haven't changed anything. I mean my face has more pimples now at 43 years old than I did when I was 16 years old. I have three right between my eyes and another four on my chin....what in the world is going on? Has anyone else suffered this acne problem? Angela Massey

Hi Angela: I have had a horrible problem with zits since my surgery. I just tell everyone that I am going through puberty again since I had surgery. This is all hormonal and the fact that our bodies are shocked with the changes we have made. I am 6 months out and my face has started to clear up. A couple of suggestions: If you have old make up ditch and buy new. Develop a daily regimen for facial care that includes a good moisturizer. Also be sure to get your vitamins and nutrients. Carolyn

Hi Angela I am right there with you. I have always been relatively fortunate in this area, however, since surgery I have noticed a lot more problems. Right now I have some "breakout issues" on my chin. For me it seems to be a T-zone thing. From some other research I have done it is just another side effect of all of the changing hormones & other rapid changes going on in our bodies post op. One guy I spoke with the other day whos mother had the procedure said that her surgeon mentioned some form of dermatitis that is associated with and common in post ops. As far as resolving it, the only thing that I have found that seems to be helping is using witch hazel every morning and night on those areas. It is a good astrigent and so far it is at least helping these areas not be so blazing & some have actually cleared up within a few days using this. Be careful if you have combo skin though because you can really dry out the other areas. I hope this helps - good luck & God Bless Angel

This whole deal is weird isn't it? Actually, I had the opposite effect. I had very oily skin before, and now it's so dry I have to put lotion all over it all the time... Which in the past would have meant Zit Central! It still kinda freaks me to put lotion on my face, but if I don't it peels...ick!!!
