I am finding as I go through this process I am learning so much. One of the things I learned immediately after surgery was that before I would have turned to food in those upsetting situations... now I can no longer do that. Alot of relationships with others changed after my surgery and you may find the same thing. For me, I no longer held in those feelings and they had to come out somehow... I became more bold and stood up for myself in situations I would have never even considered it before. This surgery is your personal decision for your life and your health.

Shoot...call her back and tell her that you CANNOT and WILL NOT be cooking this year but you will be more than happy to pick up some rolls, a cake and some drinks and bring them over and if she doesn't like it then you won't come at all and you can come eat Christmas Dinner at MY house Don't you even THINK about cancelling your surgery...you have the right to do this for YOU. We, as women, tend to put everyone else ahead of our own needs and now it is YOUR time to do something great for yourself. Just my two cents, Shree

Martha, I'm sorry that your mother is giving you such a hard time. I really do think that you need to do the best thing for you. Obviously it isn't such a bad idea, you've got everything done and a surgery date. If it was that bad for you, someone would have stopped you along the way. I think that you will do just fine. As for Thanksgiving dinner, everyone should be happy that you are okay from your surgery and that your life is about to get better. That right there is something so worth celebrating over. I'm sorry that they aren't as supportive as they should be. It's not the end of the world for them, they should understand that you cannot cook 4 days after surgery. Offer to take them out to Mc Donalds!! Don't be so hard on yourself, you are doing what you need to survive. And we (as your Georgia family) will love you no matter what! God Bless, Tiffany
